Can you have a heart attack if your blood pressure is normal?

Elevated blood pressure (BP) is only one of the several risk factors for a heart attack. So it is very well possible to have it with a normal BP. Another factor to be considered is that a heart attack damages the heart muscle and its pumping force. This can bring down an elevated BP, which is known as decapitation of systolic BP when the left ventricle fails. In fact, a silent heart attack is one condition to be thought of when the systolic BP comes down without any additional treatment.

Glossary
