Dextrocardia is manifest as cardiac shadow predominantly in the right hemithorax, with the apex pointing to the right. Situs inversus is identified by: liver on left side, fundal gas bubble on the right side, morphological right bronchus (more vertical) on the left side and the morphological right bronchus (more horizontal) on the right side. The film is also rotated to the left, indicated by the higher distance from the medial end of the left clavicle to the midline. In situs inversus, morphological right atrium will be on the left side and the morphological left atrium on the right side of the inter atrial septum.
