Judkins left guide catheter is used for percutaneous coronary intervetions. The curves of the catheter have partially straightened out as it is a used specimen for disposal. If JL 4 catheter was used diagnostic angiography, usually a JL 3.5 guide catheter will be used for interventions. A catheter with a longer catheter will be directed towards the left circumflex while one with a shorter curve will be directed towards the left anterior descending coronary artery. Guide catheters are stiffer due to braided design and the lumen size is larger than that of diagnostic catheters. The tip of guide catheters do not taper like the diagnostic catheters.
