Left main coronary artery stenosis

Left main coronary artery stenosis

Significant left main coronary artery stenosis is an indication for coronary artery bypass grafting. LMCA: left main coronary artery; LAD: left anterior descending coronary artery; LCX: left circumflex coronary artery. Here the left main coronary artery stenosis evident just proximal to the bifurcation. Sginificant stenosis is seen in the left anterior descending and left circumflex coronary artery. Coronary bypasss grafts to both these vessels are required. Left main coronary artery ostial and mid shaft stenosis are amenable to angioplasty and stenting, while distal left main lesions are still better managed by coronary bypass grafting. Distal lesions are usually associated with ostial lesions of left anterior descending and left circumflex coronary arteries.
