Efficacy and success rate of ablation of AVRT

Posted by: Johnson Francis on: 16 Nov, 2008

Efficacy of ablation of AVRT (atrioventricular reentrant tachycardia mediated by an accessory pathay) is about 89-99% in various series. Highest success rate is for left free wall pathway. Lowest success rate is for posteroseptal and right free wall pathways. Overall recurrence of conduction after successful ablation of accessory pathways is about 7%. These can often be be successfully reablated at a later sitting.
